I have stayed at Eden Hotel Amsterdam three times, and the review is based on all three occations. The hotel is way better now than the first stay in 2016.
"What a terrible hotel" - this was a guest review I read back in 2016 when I first had booked this hotel, without the possibility of cancellation. At that time the hotel was under renovation and refurbishment. The hotel was previously called Hampshire Hotel Eden and Hampshire Hotel Rembrandt Square which were two hotels that were located in the same building. In 2019, however, they were merged into one hotel - Eden Hotel Amsterdam.
Eden Hotel Amsterdam My first stay at this hotel was autumn of 2016, and then a stay in 2017 and the and of 2019. In 2016 I booked a room in the Eden part of the hotel, but got a room in the Rembrandt Square part.
Great room
The location is excellent. Eden Hotel Amsterdam has a view of the river Amstel and the opera house directly across the river, on one side. On the end of the hotel, there is now view to speak about. Just straigt onto the street up to Rembrandt Square. On this street, some of the traffic is by trams, so be aware of this if you get a room on this side. I recommend everyone to get a room on the highest florr available, and towards the backyard. It is very quiet there! The trams make a lot of noise during day time, but it is not a big problem. They don´t pass during night time anyway.
All the rooms I have stayed in, has been pretty large and newly renovated, with a large, proper double bed, a work desk and an armchair. In addition, there was plenty of closet space and the room has a minibar.
The bed was very comfortable, with good duvet and pillow which makes this part of the sleeping comfort taken care of. OK temperature during our stays - but take into consideration this was October and November. Don´t know how the temperture is during summer tie.
Not very big bathroom, in fact quite small, but it is still so efficiently built that you will not think about it. Bath tub with shower and toilet. The shower worked 100%.
Recommended hotel if you get the right room which is quiet, because you may get some annoying noise from the surroundings in some of the rooms. I have already mentioned the trams, and there are some nightclubs in the area.
You ususally get to change room if you are not satisfied and the staff is very helpful and attentive.
Reccommended
Breakfast is not always included in the price, so check this when ordering. Previously, it cost around €15 if you buy it in advance, and around €19 bought "at the door". The breakfast is a good hotel breakfast with a good selection of both hot and cold dishes. A bit expensive with 19 euros, while 15 is within a reasonable price range compared with nearby restaurants. You will also find some bakeries nearby, so it is possible to save some money on the breakfast.
In terms of price, this is not a completely low budget, as we had to well over a thousand kroner per night several of the days, but compared to other hotels, this was some of the most affordable we found, considering the standard. The hotel has been partially refurbished in recent years and most of the rooms we have had have been modern and beautiful. At least we have nothing to complain about as the other reviews did. In fact we would say that the Eden Hotel Amsterdam is definitely a hotel in Amsterdam we can really recommend!
