A football trip to England is a bucket-list experience for fans from around the world β and for good reason. Premier League stadiums offer some of the best atmospheres in world football, the cities surrounding them have plenty to offer beyond the 90 minutes, and the infrastructure for visiting fans is excellent. But the right hotel makes or breaks the trip. You don't want to spend the second half thinking about a midnight train back to a substandard room.

In this guide, we've put together hotel recommendations for all 20 Premier League clubs in the 2026/27 season, plus some popular Championship sides worth visiting. We've visited most of these cities ourselves and know what works for a typical group of travelling football fans: good location, decent standard, and a price that doesn't wipe out next season's travel budget.
General advice: Book early. Match days β especially Saturdays and European nights β fill hotels fast, and prices can double in the final weeks before kick-off compared to booking three months ahead. In London, always prioritise proximity to the Underground over proximity to the stadium. In Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle, a central hotel covers you for everything.

Practical tips before you book
Location vs. transport: In London, there is no single "right" hotel for all clubs β it's a city of nine million people with an excellent Underground network. A central hotel near a Tube station is almost always better than chasing hotels near individual stadiums on the outskirts. In cities like Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle and Birmingham, a central hotel covers you for all clubs in that city.
Booking platforms: Always check both Booking.com and Hotels.com. Prices vary, and loyalty programmes can earn you free nights over time. Many links in this article are affiliate links β you pay the same price, but we receive a small commission that keeps the blog running.
Match days and cancellation: Always choose a hotel with free cancellation up to 24β48 hours before arrival. Fixtures get rescheduled, tickets fall through, life happens. Don't get locked into a non-refundable booking at triple the price.

London opens up a world of hotel options. Our go-to recommendation for London β regardless of which club you're visiting β is London House Hotel π°π° in Bayswater: great Tube connections, a friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices for London. Ibis London Blackfriars π° is a reliable budget option with a solid central location. Want to stay closer to Emirates? Argyle Apart Hotel π°π° is one of the nearest options. Adagio Aparthotel Brentford π°π° is also a consistently solid choice.
π Tube to Emirates: Piccadilly Line to Arsenal station (3-min walk).
Aston Villa (Villa Park, Aston, Birmingham)
Birmingham is England's second-largest city with hotels at every price point. Our favourite is Holiday Inn Express Snow Hill π° β central, clean and affordable. Ibis Styles Birmingham Centre π° and Four Points Flex π°π° are solid alternatives, while Adagio Aparthotel Birmingham π°π° is ideal if your group wants extra space. Want to stay right by Villa Park? The Aston Tavern π° is the natural choice.

Bournemouth (Vitality Stadium, King's Park)
Bournemouth is a pleasant seaside town on the south coast β a football trip here can easily be combined with a day at the beach (weather permitting). The hotel selection is broad, but many older hotels along the seafront are tired. We recommend Hampton by Hilton Bournemouth π°π°, Park Inn by Radisson π°π° and Holiday Inn Bournemouth π°π°. For something more upscale, Hilton Bournemouth π°π°π° is usually worth the price.
π Stadium is about 2km from the town centre β 5 minutes by taxi.
Brentford (Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford, West London)
Since Brentford is in London, all the general London recommendations apply. But with the stadium in Brentford itself, Adagio Aparthotel Brentford π°π° is the natural first choice β a modern aparthotel within walking distance of the Gtech Community Stadium. Novotel Brentford π°π° is a reliable alternative in the same area. The London staples β London House Hotel π°π° and Ibis London Blackfriars π° β always apply.
Brighton & Hove Albion (Amex Stadium, Falmer)

Coventry are back in the Premier League for the first time in over 25 years β a historic moment for the club and the city. Coventry sits in the West Midlands, roughly halfway between London and Manchester. The hotel selection is limited compared to major cities, but Telegraph Hotel Coventry π°π° is the city's most characterful option β a former telegraph building converted into a boutique hotel. Ramada Hotel & Suites Coventry π°π° is a reliable alternative. Many visitors will combine the trip with time in Birmingham (30 min by train), which offers a far wider range of hotels and restaurants.
π CBS Arena is outside the city centre. Taxi or bus recommended.
Crystal Palace (Selhurst Park, South London)
Selhurst Park is in Croydon, south London β slightly out of the centre but well served by tram and rail. Fulham (Craven Cottage, Fulham, West London)
Craven Cottage is one of England's most beautiful and atmospheric stadiums β right on the banks of the Thames. The nearest hotel of decent standard is Captain Cook Hotel π°π°, about 1km from the ground. The London staples London House Hotel π°π° and Ibis London Blackfriars π° work well here too.
Hull City (MKM Stadium, Hull) β Promoted to PL 2026/27
Hull is a historic port city on the east coast β and Premier League football is a rare commodity here. It's a compact city that works well as a weekend trip. DoubleTree by Hilton Hull π°π° is the city's best hotel and centrally located. Holiday Inn Express Hull City Centre π° is a more budget-friendly option with good standards.
π MKM Stadium is west of the city centre β about 20-min walk or 5 min by taxi.

For traditional hotels, we recommend The Resident Liverpool π°π°, The Shankly Hotel π°π° (named after the legendary manager) and Hope Street Hotel π°π°π°.
Hardcore Liverpool fans can stay on Anfield Road at the Norwegian-owned Hotel Tia π°π°, which organises legend events and matchday experiences. The budget option is Tune Hotel Liverpool π° β we've paid as little as Β£20 per person per night here.

Manchester City & Manchester United (Etihad / Old Trafford, Manchester)
Manchester is one of the world's great football cities and has hotels for every taste and budget. Hotel Football π°π°π° next to Old Trafford is a unique experience for United fans, but note it's a 20β25 minute walk from the city centre.
For everyone else, we recommend staying central. Holiday Inn Express Manchester City Centre Arena π° is our best value pick β central, decent and fairly priced. Nottingham has a proud football history β back-to-back European Cup winners β and the city is known for the Robin Hood legend, Sherwood Forest and a genuinely enjoyable city centre. City Ground sits right by the River Trent, just outside the centre. Mercure Nottingham City Centre π°π° and Crowne Plaza Nottingham π°π° are the best central options. For something quieter outside the centre, Gamston Lock π°π° and The Orchard Hotel & Restaurant π°π° are worth considering.
π City Ground is about 1.5km from the centre β a pleasant 20-min walk along the river.
Sunderland (Stadium of Light, Sunderland)
Made world-famous by the Netflix documentary Sunderland 'Til I Die, the club has had a turbulent few years but is now back in the top flight. Stadium of Light is a large, impressive arena. Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland π°π° is our clear recommendation β modern, central and reliable. The Seaburn Inn π° is a simpler, cheaper option near the seafront. Newcastle (around 25 min by train) is an alternative with a wider hotel selection.
Tottenham Hotspur (Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, North London)
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is one of England's newest and most impressive football venues, with outstanding facilities and a brilliant matchday atmosphere. The stadium is in N17, north London. Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the best place to stay in London for a Premier League match? A central hotel near a Tube station is always better than chasing hotels near individual stadiums. London House Hotel in Bayswater and Ibis London Blackfriars are two reliable picks that work for all London clubs. From either, you're no more than 30β40 minutes from any Premier League ground in the city.
Should I stay near the stadium or in the city centre? In London: always the city centre. In Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle and Birmingham, the distances are shorter and a central hotel covers everything easily. In smaller cities like Coventry and Hull, where the stadium and centre are close together, you can stay central and walk or take a short taxi.
When should I book my hotel for a Premier League match? As soon as you have your ticket β ideally when you're still in the process of buying one. Match day hotels (especially Saturdays) fill quickly, and prices rise sharply in the final weeks. Booking 2β3 months ahead can save you 50β70% compared to last-minute rates.
Can I stay inside a Premier League stadium? Yes β at Chelsea (Millennium Copthorne at Stamford Bridge) you can stay inside the ground itself. At Newcastle, Sandman Signature is right next door to St. James' Park. Both are unique experiences, but Chelsea's hotel prices spike heavily on match days.
Which London hotel gives the best value for football trips? London House Hotel in Bayswater is our favourite: reasonable for London, great location and a welcoming atmosphere. Ibis London Blackfriars is cheaper and more standardised. Both are safe options.
Can I use the London Underground to get to all Premier League stadiums? Almost all of them. Most Premier League grounds in London are easily reached by Underground or Overground. Crystal Palace (Selhurst Park) is most easily reached by tram from Croydon. Brentford is best reached by Overground or District Line.
Is it worth travelling to smaller cities like Hull and Coventry for a match? Absolutely β this is often where you get the most authentic English football experience. Smaller grounds, closer to the local community, and tickets are far easier to come by than at Arsenal or Manchester United. Consider combining with a day in the nearest major city.
