Premier League ticket buying guide

Getting tickets for Premier League games can be both expensive and difficult, but there are some tips that can make it easier and more affordable.

Many thousands of international tourists travel on football trips every single weekend, so we have created two guides. This one for tickets and a big guide for good football hotels for all the clubs in the Premier League. For all clubs, the absolute cheapest way to get tickets is to become a member of the club. Then you get pre-sale rights for tickets during member sales and can buy flights and hotels yourself. This way you save many thousands of whatever currency you use, per trip. In addition, there are countless agencies, both official and unofficial that offer tickets and packages with tickets and hotels.

Viagogo is a large international company that offers ticket resale, and they have official cooperation with several football clubs. In the Premier League, some clubs cooperate with Viagogo, including Newcastle and Manchester City. Some clubs previously also had an agreement with StubHub, but that is not the case right now.

We have no experience with the aforementioned companies, as we buy tickets through the clubs in most cases. We also know that there are a number of groups on Facebook that offer sales and purchase of football tickets, as well as users on X/Twitter. Be cautious when buying and selling with unknowns or people without references.

But if you are going to get the cheapest tickets, you should read our big overview of each individual club. Remember that these are tickets among the home fans:

Arsenal: Membership requirement for all who want tickets. Directly from the club is possible for example the League Cup, while Premier League tickets mostly require membership at Arsenal. Info at Arsenal here.
Hotel recommendation: London House Hotel

Aston Villa: As with others, you must be a member to buy tickets. More information is available on the club's website. It is one of the clubs that has an agreement with Viagogo for ticket resale.
Hotel recommendation: Holiday Inn Express Snow Hill

Bournemouth: Little Vitality Stadium (Dean Court) has a capacity of only 11,464 which makes it the stadium with the lowest capacity in the Premier League. Still: Some games come with tickets on so-called general sale, i.e. open to everyone. Check their website for more information.
Hotel recommendation: Hampton by Hilton Bournemouth

Brentford: Plays their home games at Brentford Community Stadium with very limited space. The stadium only takes 17,250 spectators. The club requires membership / FanID and it seems like credit from previous games is necessary - read more here.
Hotel recommendation: Adagio Aparhotel Brentford

Brighton & Hove Albion:  Directly from the club, you should be a member, while single games may be available on so-called general sale. Read more on the club's website.
Hotel recommendation: Staybridge Suites

Chelsea: Small stadium considering interest and location. If you want to buy directly from the club you must be a member at Chelsea. The club have an agreement with Viagogo for ticket resale for the season 2024/2025.
Hotel recommendation: London House Hotel

Crystal Palace: The atmosphere at Selhurst Park is magical, but it is not easy to get tickets.  Only member sales directly from the club.
Hotel recommendation: London House Hotel

Everton: One of the clubs where there is a fair chance to buy tickets directly from the club, and some games also on "general sale", i.e. sales for everyone. Members of course have priority and the club posts ticket info here.
Hotel recommendation: Adagio Aparthotel Liverpool City Centre

Fulham: The London team has no large stadium, but it is actually possible to get tickets on general sale for some games. However, you must create an account on the homepage. Information about tickets to Craven Cottage can be found here. Agreement with Viagogo for ticket resale.
Hotel recommendation: London House Hotel

Ipswich: Back in the top division for the first time in 22 years! Over 30,000 fit at Portman Road, and it is actually possible for non-members to buy tickets. Not sure how easy it is, but more info is available on the club's website.
Hotel recommendation: Holiday Inn Ipswich

Leicester: After the success in the Premier League 15/16, interest in Leicester has probably not decreased and Leicester established itself in the PL before they were relegated. Now they are back! You must register with Leicester to buy tickets, and it is possible with tickets directly from the club for single games (general sale). Check directly from the club.
Hotel recommendation: Holiday Inn Express Leicester

Anfield 01

Liverpool: Anfield has been expanded in two stages, and the capacity is now around 61,000. Nevertheless, home games in the Premier League are sold out every game. You have to be a member of the club and often you should have so-called credits (games from the previous season) on the membership to get tickets. In Norway and Sweden there are several suppliers that deliver tickets and packages where we recommend Liverpoolreiser (official hospitality tickets), as well as Liverpooltravel and Liverpooldrømmer
Hotel recommendation: Adagio Aparthotel Liverpool City Centre

Manchester City: Ethiad is always sold out, even though it is not always full. Prices have also risen in recent years due to increasing international popularity. Manchester City has for many years had an agreement with Viagogo that resells tickets, but it may seem that only hospitality tickets are available here. To buy directly from the club you must be a member.
Hotel recommendation: Holiday Inn Express MEN Arena or Motel One Piccadilly

Manchester United: Huge international fan base. Only for members like most of the other big clubs. For info from the club regarding tickets, check here.
Hotel recommendation: Holiday Inn Express MEN Arena or Hotel Football

Old Trafford Utenfor
Outside Old Trafford.

Newcastle: Only sells to members, and if there is availability it goes to a kind of "members general sale" at the end. Newcastle runs a "member ballot" i.e. a lottery for those who show interest. Then the selected ones get a certain number of days to buy tickets. If there are still tickets available, they are put up for sale to other members. Updated ticket info from the club can be read here. Also has an agreement with Viagogo for ticket resale.
Hotel recommendation: Sandman Signature or Premier Suites

Nottingham Forest: Back in the Premier League and is in its second season in the good company. City Ground takes just over 30,000 spectators and is a bit bigger than Ipswich's Portman Road. Here you must be a member and preferably have credits to get access to tickets, but you may be lucky in some cases just being a member. Premier League games are very difficult to get tickets from the club, while cup games may come on general sale.

Southampton: In previous seasons, there have been relatively good opportunities to get tickets through open sales directly from the club, but you must register an account and it’s uncertain if a membership fee is required. They also have a decent “ticket exchange” system on their own pages.

Tottenham: With the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and a capacity of nearly 63,000, the opportunities for tickets are greater than at White Hart Lane. However, you’ll likely need to be a member. It’s easier to get tickets for matches against smaller teams (Category C). You can find information from the club here. Good opportunities against the smaller teams.
Hotel recommendation: London House Hotel

West Ham: Has relatively good capacity, in our experience, except against top teams, thus okay chances for tickets on open sale. Membership is recommended to get ahead in the queue, but perhaps the London team with the best opportunities to see PL football. More info about tickets and sales can be found on the club’s website. The club has an agreement with Viagogo for ticket resale.
Hotel recommendation: Holiday Inn Express

Wolverhampton: May be high demand for them as Molineux has a capacity of 31,700 and Wolverhampton has an average attendance of over 31,000 in the Premier League. You must be a member, but as a member, there is a relatively good chance for category B and C matches. Read more at the club´s homepage.
Hotel recommendation: Novotel Wolverhampton

Leeds Ellandroad
Good atmosphere also in the Championship at Elland Road.

Outside the Premier League

Leeds: Once a great club. Was back in the Premier League last season, and once again one could experience PL football at legendary Elland Road. Good capacity, but you must be a member to buy tickets. Membership access is probably quite straightforward. Here is more information about tickets.
